Ivan Wayne  Hickox

Ivan Wayne Hickox, 71 of Amherst, Nova Scotia passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014.
He was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on February 21, 1943 as an only child to parents Roland and Evelyn Hickox. Ivan was married to first wife Geraldine Hickox and predeceased by second wife Gwen Hickox and third wife Carmel Legere Hickox.
He graduated from Amherst Regional High School and grew up working along side his Dad in the family store, Hickox Grocery. He worked as a butcher at Dominion Grocery for many years and was a pioneer in the sandwich business in Moncton, NB with spouse Linda Haddad. Ivan later changed his career to cook at the Dorchester Penitentiary where he worked until retirement. He thereafter founded the Ashley sandwich business which he sold and is still a thriving business today.
Ivan had a passion for music and played the keyboard with The Rockin Countryairs. They were well remembered as a regular attraction at the Despres Dance Hall. He had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed going to Sandy Beach, going to the camp with his longtime friend Grady and spent many hours fishing on the marsh. He had a passion for protecting the marsh and was a member of Ducks Unlimited Canada. He loved hockey, NASCAR, baseball, and cooking for family and friends.
Ivan is survived by four children; Cynthia Ann Lidster (Fredericton), Stephen Douglas Hickox (Fredericton), Edward Wayne Johnson (Amherst), Christine Tracy Hickox (Parrsboro), and stepdaughter, Diana Legere (Amherst). He is also survived by grandchildren; Jaime Rakowski, Christopher Lidster, Jillian Watson, Robbie Hickox, Stephen Jr. Hickox, Jacob Johnson, Marissa Johnson, Evan Leger, great grandchild Kaylin Rakowski, and niece Trudy Brown.
Ivan was cremated by Campbell's funeral Home and a memorial service will be held and announced at a later date.
