It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of George Chesley 'Cheddie' Hollingsworth, 72, of New Waterford on Thursday, March 27, 2014.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Chesley & Margaret (Burton) Hollingsworth.
Before Cheddie retired, he was employed by Devco from 1957-1992. Cheddie loved working in the mines and would do it all over again. During that time he proudly served in the Military.
Cheddie is known to his family and friends as the ultimate outdoorsman and craftsman; there was nothing he couldn’t do. He was known for his love for hunting, fishing, woodworking and leatherwork. His favorite passions were gun collecting and drag racing. His knowledge will live on in his children and grandchildren. Cheddie loved people and visitors, and was happiest when he was surrounded by his grandchildren.
Cheddie is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Leudy; sons, George Hollingsworth, Shawn Leudy (Tracey), Michael Leudy (Jasmine); daughters, Elizabeth Crummey (Bill) and Deborah Hollingsworth. Cheddie was also the proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and host daughter, Aya Takino (Japan). Cheddie will be fondly remembered and missed by many special friends.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at V.J.
