It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather Allister Neary, on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, An Cala Palliative Care Unit surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Robinson) Neary.
Allie was a retired miner. He enjoyed painting and hunting and participated for many years as a draegerman.
Allie is survived by his wife Elsie; sons, David (Laurie), Michael (Corrine), both of Alberta, Doug (Heather) MacLeod, New Minas; daughters, Janet (Keith), Colleen (Evan), Patricia (Serge), all of Ontario; sister, Veronica (James) Stonier, Glace Bay. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Campbell, brothers, John, Alex, Andrew, Timothy, Patrick and Peter, sisters, Bridgette, Frances, Kay, Marge, Irene, daughter Elizabeth Shiel and son Kevin MacLeod.
Cremation has taken place. As per Allie’s wishes there will be no service. Committal will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
Donations may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
