David Carter

Passed on: March 20th, 2014

CARTER, David “Dave” George
December 16, 1949 – Swift Current, SK
March 20, 2014 – Calgary, AB

After a brief battle with cancer, Dave passed away peacefully at home with his loving partner, Sue by his side.

Dave was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and moved with his family to Calgary in 1962. Although he left at a young age, Dave kept his friendships and ties to Swift Current and for 25 years, sponsored the annual Labour Day Golf Tournament at the Elmwood Golf Club in memory of his maternal grandparents. In Calgary, while attending and graduating from Henry Wise Wood High School, Dave entered into the automotive industry at the young age of 16 and later made his way into the real estate business. Golf was his passion and Maui was his home. After joining King Kamehameha Golf Club in Maui, Dave carried on with his family tradition and purchased a trophy that is awarded annually in honour of his paternal grandparents.

Wherever Dave went, he made friends easily and his generosity was infinite.

Besides his loving partner, Sue Chapman, Dave is survived by his mother, Shirley Carter and his sisters Diane Carter and Donna L’Amarca (Terry). He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ted Riehl in 2009 and his father, Jack Carter in 2011.

Dave was a loving, loyal son, big brother, partner and friend and he will truly be missed.

At Dave’s request, there will be no funeral service, however friends are invited to drop in and share some memories at the Calgary Golf and Country Club (5788 Station A, Calgary, AB, 1 1/2 blocks west of the intersection of Elbow Drive and 50 Avenue SW) Saturday, April 5, between 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, #271, 339 - 50 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 2B3 Telephone: (403) 265-9039, www.childrenswish.ca.
