Thompson, Raymond Stanly Thompson, age 89, of White Bear, SK passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Kyle and District Health Centre. A Celebration of Life was held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 28, 2014 at Kyle United Church with Reverend Jim McNaughton officiating. The organist was Darlene Smith. A duet was preformed by grandsons Michael MacArthur and Kennedy Thompson. The eulogy was delivered by daughters Gloria Thompson and Carol Chapman. The ushers were nephews Gordon Hesla and Eldon Danielson. The Interment Service was held at Skandia Cemetery. The pallbearers were Scott, Chris, Nick and Curtis Chapman, Michael, Amanda, Mackenzie and Danielle MacArthur, Tyler and Kandis Speir, Evan Thompson and Kennedy Thompson. Raymond is survived by his children, Carol (Bob) Chapman, Glen (Paulette), Gloria (Brian), and Lorne; grandchildren, Scott (Vanessa) Chapman, Chris Chapman, Nick Chapman, Curtis Chapman (Chelsey); Evan (Michelle) Thompson; Tyler (Jen) Speir, Kandis Speir (Matt), Kennedy Thompson, Michael MacArthur (Stephanie), Amanda MacArthur, Mackenzie MacArthur, Danielle MacArthur (Ryan); great grandchildren Aiden and Hailey Chapman; Trey and Kailey Thompson; Carter and Blake Speir; sister Laverna Hesla and sister-in-law Sigrid Thompson as well as nephews and nieces and their families. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Annie; his parents Hilda and Julius Thompson; his son Brian; brother Lloyd and sister Geneva; brothers and sisters-in-law Melvin, Clarence and Lloyd Master, Henry Hesla, Urvan Danielson, Gladys and Fred McWillie and Helen and Arthur Potter. Raymond was born on the family farm in the White Bear District on March 8, 1925. He attended school at Fundale, Neosho and Kyle Schools. Raymond married Annie Master on October 17, 1955 at the United Church in Swift Current. Raymond farmed south-west of White Bear since he was very young and this is where they raised their family. Raymond enjoyed music, dancing, fishing, boating, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family. While living on the farm he always had a big herd of cattle, as well as sheep and horses. Raymond always enjoyed time at the river, never being too busy to take the kids waterskiing and fishing. Together, Annie and Raymond built a beautiful farm and were very proud of their accomplishments. Raymond enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar and did so almost every day. He passed his love of music along to his children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his gentleness, his sense of humour, and his love of life. The family takes solace knowing that he will be reunited with the love of his life, Annie and his fishing buddy and son, Brian.
