The death of Michael William "Mike" Burbine, 54, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on the morning of Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Born in Amherst, Mike was a son of the late Murray and Louise Burbine.
Mike was a devoted family man to his children and best friend to his wife. His girls were the most important thing in his life as was his special relationship with his son-in-law. He was so very proud of them all, and was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild. He enjoyed many sports especially golf and hockey.
He had a tremendous smile that was a big part of his outgoing personality.
For many years, Mike had worked at Archway Insurance in Amherst as a Broker and had been promoted to Manager.
Mike will be sadly missed by his wife of 28 years, Phyllis (nee Porter), of Amherst; two daughters, Krista (Shawn) Stewart, of Oromocto and Kelli, of Amherst; sisters, Patricia (Larry) Betts, of Calgary and Anita (Terry) White, of Riverview; nieces, Cathy Murray, Debbie Morgan, Megan and Brittany Porter and nephews, Scott White and Brad Porter.
Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by a daughter Alison in 1990; a brother, Parker and a niece, Terri-Lynn Leopold
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902) 667-8777 from where visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 6 at 2 pm from First Baptist Church, Amherst. Interment will be held in the Amherst Cemetery in the Spring.
Donations in memory of Mike may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the First Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
