September 25, 1923 - April 9, 2014: Passed peacefully away at his home in Torbay with his family by his side; Augustine (Gus) Joseph Thorne of 90 years. Predeceased by his father, Richard, mother, Clara and brothers Fred, Charlie, and Bob, sister-in-law, Therese and nephews Bobby and Eddie. Leaving to mourn his brother Leo and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family and friends. Gus had worked in the construction field for more than fifty years. He was a very sociable and active person and enjoyed the company of others. He made time for fishing, photography, his pets (domestic and wild), a "mug-up" while in the woods, his very successful "organic" vegetable garden, a loyal fan of hockey and boxing, loved Irish music, had an exceptional sense of humor, a terrible sweet tooth and above all, always made time for his family --- he was always there. Gus will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. S. Collis and very special thanks to Dr. M. Penton. Residing at Caul's Funeral Home, Main Rd., Torbay. Visitation on Thursday 7 - 9 p.m. and Friday 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Trinity Church. Interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery Main Rd., Torbay.
