Matilda Reardon

Passed away on April 7, 2014, Matilda Randell of Englee. Matilda was born on June 6, 1938 to the late Arthur and Susanna Compton. She married the love of her life, Norman Randell of Hooping Harbour, on Nov. 15, 1955. Together they raised seven children; Wanda, Gideon (Judy), Ambrose, Vay (Christine), David (Sharon), Nelson (Deceased) and Osborne (Roxanne). Matilda was a devoted wife and a wonderful mom. She was a special friend to everyone and loved by all who knew her. She gave her heart to Jesus around the age of 19, was enrolled as a soldier on April 11, 1993 and was a faithful member of her Corps until sickness prevented her from attending. Matilda stood on God’s promises all her life and knew what it was to serve him faithfully in every circumstance and was looked upon by many as a great prayer warrior and encourager. Matilda leaves to mourn her husband (Norman); six children; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother Ray (Ruth) and two sisters Ella and Hazel (Ron); son-in-law Kevin and daughter-in-law Gloria. She is predeceased by her son, her parents, five sisters and five brothers. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11 with Major Bingle officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
