ROBERTSON, LEONARD “LEN” - Leonard “Len” Robertson, 86, of Sussex, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 18, 2014. Born on January 7, 1928 in Norton, he was a son of the late Herbert and Alice (nee Boone) Robertson. Dad worked for NB Power for 43 years, retiring as an Engineering Assistant. Dad was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, and he was involved with the hockey ministry, playing hockey and coaching minor hockey for years. He was involved with Meals on Wheels, and in his earlier years he volunteered at St. Paul’s in Sussex. Dad was Club Champion at the Sussex Golf Club, where he was a member of the Board of Directors, and a founding member of the new course. He supported his children in all their endeavors, and he enjoyed spending his time with Evelyn and the family and will be missed by all those who knew him. Len is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Evelyn (nee Hall); his daughters: Nancy Gillies (Stan James) of Saint John, NB, Linda (Doug) Burgess of Riverview, NB and Betty Jane (Mike) Brown of Apohaqui; his sons: Larry (Ruth) of Braeside, Ontario, Ted (Susan) of Drury’s Cove, NB, Paul (Paula) of Sussex, NB; his sister Laura Crain; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents Len was predeceased by his brothers: George, Bud, Russell, Frederick and William; and his sisters: Fern and Elizabeth.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, from where visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, April 22, at 11:00am with Jeanette Cosman presiding. Interment will be held in Riverbank Cemetery.
