COOK, DAVID - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of David Marshall Cook, 73, of Rusagonis, NB on April 16th 2014. Dave "Digger" Cook was born in Chebogue, Yarmouth County, NS. Son of Vernon and Elva Cook, loving husband of Sandra Hulsman Cook. He passed away suddenly at the Vancouver General Hospital, on April 16th, while visiting family in Vancouver, BC. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; two daughters Cindi Hachey and husband Carl of Maugerville, NB; Emma Geneau and husband Dan and three grandchildren Sevanna, Nate and Meghan currently of Vancouver, BC, and three brothers Darryl (Ruth), Brian (Marilyn), Scott (Pat) and sister in-law Rose. He was predeceased by his father, mother and brother Alan. Dave grew up on the Chebogue River, NS with his four brothers and during his High School years he joined the Reserves and eventually became a Sergeant of the Royal Canadian Signal Corp. Following his time in the military he worked various jobs including cooking on the MV Bluenose from Yarmouth to Bar Harbour. He went back to school and became a Funeral Director in Weymouth, NS which eventually brought him, Sandra and Cindi to Fredericton, NB where he worked at McAdams Funeral Home for 20 years. After his retirement he enjoyed teaching Hunter Safety; an avid outdoorsman he loved fishing, deer hunting, duck hunting, well any kind of hunting, camping and just being in the woods with nature. He is known to his "Rendezvous" friends as Digger and loved to talk about "roughing it" and tell stories about all of his adventures. David was kind and gentle to all that crossed his path and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 5 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 will hold a Tribute service at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.The funeral Service will he held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm at New Maryland United Church with Rev. Kelly Burk officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the VON or the IWK Children’s Hospital.
