Passed in: North Sydney
Passed on: April 20th, 2014

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Terrance 'Terry' Anthony Jackman, 73, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in North Sydney, Terry was the son of the late Clement and Sara (MacNeil) Jackman.
In earlier years Terry was employed with CN Railway, later with CN Marine aboard the vessels and then as stevedore foreman with Marine Atlantic. A community-minded person, Terry was a past president of the Kiwanis Ceilidh Golden K and volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program and the Cape Breton Children’s Burn Camp. Terry was presented Volunteer of the Year award by the Kiwanis in 1999. In his younger years he played with Notre Dame Juvenile hockey team which went undefeated as Maritime champions from 1957-1959 and later inducted into the Cape Breton Sports Hall of Fame.
Terry loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a full-time hands on 'Poppy' who never missed a basketball or a hockey game. If he wasn’t with his grandchildren he could be found at his favourite place in Georges River enjoying time with family and friends.
Terry is survived by his wife Carol (Currie) Jackman, and his daughter Terrilee (Stephen) Robinson, North Sydney, and his two precious grandchildren Aunalee and Graham. Also surviving is his brother Brian (Karen) Jackman, Antigonish. He was a wonderful uncle to his many nieces and nephews and was always very proud of their accomplishments.
Besides his parents, Terry was predeceased by his stepmother Hattie (Ivey) Jackman and brothers Clement and Adrian Jackman.
Visitation for Terry will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass to be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Cremation to follow with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
