Edwin 'Ed' Taylor

Born In: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed in: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Passed on: April 24th, 2014

With deepest sadness we, the family of Edwin Ross Taylor, announce his passing at Foothills Hospital, Calgary, Alta. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Halifax, Edwin was the son of Edna (Ross) Musial of Falmouth, N.S. and the late Art Taylor.
He had been employed as a fishing guide in Margaree for many years and later as a civil engineer technologist in Calgary. Edwin and Sandra were also co-owners of an online fly fishing business, Margaree River Fly Fishing Specialists.
Aside from his family, Edwin's greatest joys were fishing on the Margaree River and golfing with his son, Keven and brother, Darrell. He also enjoyed his work as an extra in several movies, his favourite being time spent with Kevin Costner on the set of 'Open Range'.
Besides his mother, Edwin is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; son, Keven; daughter, Morgan; Sandra's children, Stephanie and Greg Kingdon, granddaughter, Mollie; Pamela and Ryan Siever, grandchildren, Hunter and Rowyn; Kristopher Gebkenjans and fiancé, Kara Engele.
Edwin's three grandchildren meant the world to him and his face always lit up when he saw them, even in his final days when nine month old Mollie last visited him in hospital.
He is also survived by his only brother, Darrell (Wanda) Taylor, Sydney; his stepmother, Elaine (Harry) Crawford, Dartmouth. Several aunts, uncle, cousins and many close friends. Edwin will also be sadly missed by his canine fishing and camping buddy, Ricki.
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held in Moose Jaw, Sask. on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Edwin's ashes will be returned to his beloved Cape Breton, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
