Lydia Marie Lirette
It is with profound sadness that the family of Lydia Marie Lirette, 88 years, announce her passing on April 23, 2014 with her loving family at her side.
Born in Cap Pele, NB, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie (LeBlanc) Fagan.
Lydia worked at Evelyn Lockhart Nursing Home and also at Gables Lodge. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, a long time member of the Prayer Group, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a 50 year member of the CWL.
Lydia is survived by her sons Gerry (Carol), Amherst, Leo, Dartmouth, Roger (Theresa), Amherst, Carl (Dianne), Amherst, Bill (Kathy), Truro; daughter Maria (David) Green, Sooke, BC; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sisters Lorraine Melanson and Viola Corbett, both of Amherst, brother-in-law Emile Melanson, Amherst; sister-in-law Doris Lyete, Sydney, NS; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Samuel, brothers Renee, Leo, Paul, Rev. Omer, Mark and Philip, and sister Dorilla Melanson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. Parish prayers will take place Thursday evening at the funeral home at 8:30 pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Father Vernon Driscoll on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 2 pm from Holy Family Parish Church. Following burial in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, a reception will follow at the Holy Family Parish Church Hall.
Donations in Lydia's memory may be made to the "Between The Hearts Renewal Center, Fort Lawrence", the "Holy Family Parish", or the charity of your choice.
