Maryanne Hardman

HARDMAN, MARYANNE - It is with extreme sadness that we announce the much too soon passing of Maryanne Angela Hardman on May 4th, 2014. Maryanne led a fulfilling life that touched many people; she was highly regarded for her kindness and thoughtfulness as well as her quirky sense of humour and love of life. Within her circle of family and friends, she was often the one who made sure everyone was looked after and doing well; she never wanted anyone to feel left out. As a leading investment advisor at CIBC Wood Gundy, she recently achieved the distinction of Executive Council (EPC). She considered her clients as her extended ‘family’ and she had over 120 families that she cared deeply about. Maryanne had a passion for excitement, fitness and fun. She loved driving her scooter, swimming on the Masters’ swim team and flying her plane. She so loved flying, which was evident by her big smiles every time she went up, that she affectionately nicknamed her plane ‘Bug’. Maryanne’s devotion to her favourite past time extended past Stanley Airport, which she held in high esteem. On her death, she was working tirelessly to get the former Shearwater Airport open for general aviation. And when Maryanne set her mind on something, there was no stopping her enthusiasm. Education was important to Maryanne and she was proud of her achievements: University of Toronto – BA (1996), Canadian Investment Manager - CIM (1998), Derivatives Fundamental Course (1999), Options Licensing Course (2000) and Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute - FCSI (2000). She valued community and shared her talents volunteering with many worthwhile organizations such the Stanley Airport, the Rotary Club and the YWCA. Maryanne was the youngest of four girls and always the organizer of memorable events. Her most engaging moments are being in front of the karaoke machine with her sisters and many friends, attempting to sing Elvis. Maryanne will be missed by her beloved husband, Bill; her father, George Fletcher, Fredericton; sisters, Kathy Attis (Ed Backman), Halifax, Pam Fletcher (Peter Lafferty), Fredericton, and Joanne Fletcher (Rod MacDonald), Fredericton; niece, Leah Attis, Boston, MA, her father- and mother-in-law, Bill Hardman Sr. and Lea, Halifax, her brother-in-law, Clayton, his wife Keri, nieces and nephew William and Sarah Hardman, Halifax, Jennifer Albert (Eric Albert) and grandniece, Ava Albert, Bathurst. Maryanne is predeceased by her daughter, Junior Madeleine Hardman; her mother, Madeleine Fletcher, and sister in law, Paige Crawley.
The family will receive visitors at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm, each day. Funeral service will be held at Saint Mark’s Anglican Church, 5522 Russell Street, corner of Russell and Gottingen Street, Halifax, at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 9. A reception will follow the service in the church hall at Saint Mark’s Church. Interment to be held at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredericton, NB.
