Anthony "Tony" McBriarty
McBRIARTY, ANTHONY "TONY" - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Anthony "Tony" Joseph McBriarty announce his sudden death by accident on May 9, 2014 in Calgary, AB. Born in Toronto, Ontario December 7, 1955 he was the son of the late John Joseph "Jack" and Madelyn (Burchill) McBriarty. Tony had been an employee of the City of Calgary as a heavy equipment operator and after his retirement worked for his good friends John and Debbie Keizer. Tony is survived by his east coast family, sisters Patricia (Stephen) Downey, Jane (Chris) Harley, "Rinny" Catherine (Barry) Walsh; and brothers James (Tina) and John (Heather). Nieces and nephews: Sarah (Peter), Shawn (Jen), Allison (Andrew), Adam, Brian, Bradley, Geoff, Becky, Zach (Jenna), Graeme and Colin; great-nieces Brooklyn and Brynn; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and especially his adopted west coast family and close friends. Although Tony left the Maritimes in his early 20’s he always maintained a close connection with his family and friends. Tony was a free spirit who lived life on his own terms. He was a generous, kind-hearted, gentle soul who would do anything for anybody. No matter what life threw his way he would respond with “Right on”. Tony’s passion was his motorcycles, as evidenced by the times you would see him in the kitchen working on them, as well as his many bike runs over the years in Alberta and the Maritimes. He will be missed by us all.
