It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anita Connors (nee Leudy), age 63, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother on Saturday May 10th, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, N.S. she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (nee Coakley) Leudy.
Anita lived her entire life in the town of New Waterford, where she happily married her wonderful husband and raised her son and daughter, as well as spent many cherished moments with her sisters, grandchildren, and friends. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, caring personality, sense of humor and ability to find the positive in the darkest of hours.
She loved having people around her, including summers camping, entertaining by the pool, baking treats and making massive meals. She was also quite fond of watching Curling on television, reading a good book and singing.
Anita is survived by her husband, Fred Connors, New Waterford; her son Fred (Marcie) Connors and their children Nikki, Emma and Charlee, Fredericton; her daughter Judi (Fred) Hutchison and their children Kate and Eve; as well as her sisters Bobbie (Paul) Cross, Miramichi; Carol (Eddy) Larade, New Waterford; Patricia (Charlie) MacDonald, New Waterford; Shirley Leadbeater, New Waterford; and brother Robert (Beverley) Leudy, Kitchener. She is also survived by relatives and special friends Marie Burns and her daughter Ashley, Sydney; and Brian and Eleanor Whalen; New Waterford; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Anita was predeceased by her sisters Jean Wilson and Laurie McCarthy as well as two brothers Tony Leudy and Johnny Leudy.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Wednesday, May 14 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Jerry White officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in her name.
