It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Leo Byrne at his home on May 3, 2014.
Born June 5, 1944 in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Leo 'Skipper' and Mary 'Tootie' (McInnis) Byrne.
Leo is survived by his daughter Carol (Wayne) Munroe, Halifax; brothers John, Peter (Catherine), Michael (Georgie), Danny (Mary Lou), Brian (Marcella), Bobby (Heather), Joe (Madonna), Kevin (Sharon), all of Glace Bay; sisters Winnie (Ronnie) Seymour, Mary Boutilier (Butch Mills), Anna Byrne (Roddie MacSween), Greta (Ray) Wadden, all of Glace Bay; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Leo was predeceased by brothers Leo in infancy, Joseph and by a sister Margaret Maider.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at St. Anne's Church, Main Street, Glace Bay, on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10 a.m. Reception to follow at St. Anne's Church.
