June 24, 1916 ~ April 26, 2014
Mom gently slipped away April 26, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born at Union Bay on Vancouver Island June 24, 1916 and moved with her family to Vancouver as a youngster. As a young woman, Mom came to Sechelt for the summer to work in the hotel and met her husband, John, who worked in the post office. They married and lived in the Lower Mainland until they retired to Sechelt 35 years ago.
Mom was predeceased by husband John in 1998 and by brothers Arthur and Thornton Grenfell. She is survived by son David (Brenda), daughter Wendy (Jim) and son John (Mary) as well as by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
During her life Mom created a welcoming home and enjoyed nurturing her lovely gardens, but most of all she enjoyed her family. She will be remembered as an intelligent, resourceful and determined lady whose strength was tempered by kindness and grace.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Totem Lodge who have cared for Mom so kindly and also her doctor, Brian Myhill-Jones, for his many years of care to this ‘delightful old lady’.
