The death of Donald Roderick Smith age 84 occurred peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Northumberland Hall in Amherst with his daughter by his side.
Donald was born on February 10, 1930 in Amherst, he was a son of the late Charles and Edith (Greeno) Smith.
He is survived by his daughter, Virginia (Stephen) Smith-Brown of Amherst; son, Alan Smith of Winnipeg, MB; as well as three granddaughters; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Donald was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was predeceased by his wife the former Jewell Lorraine Bryan in 2001; daughter, Valerie in 1969; brother, Cecil Smith and sister, Florence Everill.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906).
A public graveside service in the Amherst Cemetery to honor our dad’s life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donald’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
