HÉBERT, ARSÈNE - 1929-2014 - Cocagne, NB - Arsène Hébert, 84, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, May 16, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Born in Cocagne, NB on December 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Jacques (Jim) and the late Amanda (Breau) Hébert. Arsène will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Irène Hébert; his three sons, Jean (Dorice), Donald (Lisa) and Jacques (Carmella), all of Cocagne; his two daughters, Murielle Babineau (Claude) of Moncton and Jeannine Allain (Jean-Paul) of Cocagne; his daughter-in-law, Marie-Rita Hébert (Walter) of St-Antoine; his two brothers, Léo (Georgina) of Waltham, Massachusetts and Aubrey (Margot) of Irishtown; his 10 grandchildren, Lisa, Anne, Claude, Rachelle, Mireille, Michel, Ghislain, Janelle, Luc and Marc; his two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jessie; as well as by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Donat; one infant great-granddaughter, Mia. In Arsène's early years, he was a logger. He became a carpenter and then a teacher. He taught at the CCNB for many years and finally retired as a teacher at École Clément-Cormier. He was president of the Caisse Populaire in Cocagne and director of the "Fédération des caisses populaires acadiennes". He was a co-founder for the scholarship committee at the Ecole Clément-Cormier in Bouctouche. He was a Knight of Columbus of the 4th degree in Cocagne. He was a member of the construction committees for both the "Foyer Côte d'Or" and the church in Cocagne. Arsène was a hard worker, and a calm and patient man. For many years he loved cutting wood off his land with his sons. Everything he did was to provide for his family that he loved very much.
Visitation will be at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Funeral service will be held at the St-Pierre-de-Cocagne RC Church in Cocagne on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:00 am. Donations to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Oncology) or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
