It is with love, sadness, and with heavy hearts that we announce Mohsen Daneshtalab, known to most as Dr. D, passed away at the age of 68 at the Health Sciences Hospital after struggles with his liver disease. His life was full of incredible deeds and stories that rivaled the best novels. He was a loving husband to his wife Emiko, an incredibly supportive and encouraging father to his daughter Noriko and son-in-law Jules. He was in every capacity a leader, tireless scholar, researcher, and an inspiring teacher. He inspired generations of students and researchers spanning more than 3 countries (Iran, Japan, Canada) over his 38 year career with honesty, integrity, dedication, and incredible work ethic. His great sense of humor, and love of his countries was noticed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. An intimate burial was held on Saturday, May 17th. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 23rd, from 3-9pm at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave, St.John's with presentations between 6:00-7:30pm to honor his life and contributions. In lieu of flowers, we would like donations to be made under his name (Dr. Mohsen Daneshtalab Fund) and in his memory to MUN alumni page (www.munalum.ca) to provide opportunities for Pharmacy students and research.
