Ronald “Ron” Herman Brown, Age 69 of Halifax, formerly of Brooklyn, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2014. Born June 20th, 1944 in Windsor, he was the son of the late Minard and Marjorie (Redden) Brown. Ron was a member of Local 721 Operating Engineers for 40 years. He worked at Irving Equipment for the past 30 years as a crane operator. He was proud of his achievement in receiving his 'Red Seal'. Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and always enjoyed family gatherings with good food. He also enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures, such as a walk along the beach, a spur of the moment 'road trip', or a drive just for a scoop of ice cream. And he usually had his trade-mark, well-worn, straw hat on these adventures. He had a keen interest in history, including his family history. He also enjoyed learning the mechanics in how any piece of equipment worked. Ron also enjoyed a good Western, be it a movie or a book. He always looked for a positive in each day. His hearty laugh and sense of humour will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his spouse, Alice Baldasso; daughters, Angela Shanks and Tricia Brown; stepdaughters, Shannon and Alicia Baldasso; granddaughters, Madeline, Sophie and Parker; grandsons, Noah, Logan, Lauchlan and Landon; brothers, Allan (Kitty), Garry, Harley (Kathy), sister, Carol Ann (Tim) O’Leary; nieces, Karen & Julie; nephew, Kirby. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Minard and Marjorie; beloved daughter, Tami Tran; brothers, Reg and Richard; sister-in-law, Judy Brown. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay's Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King St., Windsor. A private family grave side committal was held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. A public celebration of Ron's Life was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27th, at the Brooklyn Civic Centre 995, Highway 215, Brooklyn, Hants County. Family flowers only were requested. Donations in memory of Ron were requested to be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, 5657 Spring Garden Road., Box 245, Halifax, N.S.
