Mary Crowley

Mary E. (Clark) Crowley passed away peacefully, at the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville, New Brunswick on Monday, May 26, 2014, at the age of 101.
Mary was born on March 22nd, 1913 in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, daughter of Susan (Bryden) and George Clark.
Mary attended Tatamagouche High School, Colchester Academy, and graduated professional classification first rank from the Provincial Normal College in Truro, Nova Scotia. Mary and Ken married in June 1939, and moved, with the Bank of Nova Scotia, to Port aux Basques, Nfld in 1940, to Jacquet River, New Brunswick in 1947, and to Doaktown, New Brunswick in 1949. Mary was a true adventurer, making friends and enjoying every place they lived. When Ken retired in 1963 they spent twenty-five happy years in Amherst, Nova Scotia before moving to Sackville, New Brunswick. A gifted educator, Mary taught in East New Annan, Tatamagouche, and Great Village, Nova Scotia. She taught Grade 7 for five years in Doaktown, New Brunswick, and started a kindergarten for the YMCA in Amherst, which she taught for five years. The latter, she always said, was the favourite of all her teaching jobs. Mary was an avid church and community worker in each of the places she lived. Her Wolf Cub Pack in Doaktown was recognized as one of the best in New Brunswick, and she will long be thought of fondly by the dozens of little boys, now grown men, who knew her as “Akela”. In addition, Mary will be remembered as a faithful friend, a gracious hostess and a fabulous cook. She was a talented craftswoman, a gardener extraordinaire, and an excellent bridge player. She loved reading, swimming, camping and picnicking.
Mary was the most wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Nancy Deline (James); her son, Jim Crowley; her grandson, Matt Deline and by her granddaughters, Yvonne (Paul Skudlarek) and Melinda Crowley. Special thanks to her loving and devoted caregivers Joice Dobson and Sandra Sears, and to the wonderful staff of the Drew Nursing Home for their care and affection.
Besides her parents, Mary was pre-deceased by her brothers, Arthur and George Clark; husband, Kenneth Crowley and by her daughter-in-law, Mary Crowley.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visitation will take place at the Drew Nursing Home in the Coates Lounge, on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 2 pm until 3 pm. A celebration of Mary`s life will be held at 3 pm with Rev. Catherine Smith officiating. A graveside ceremony will be held in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 1 pm with Rev. Morley Bentley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Drew Nursing Home or to a charity of your choice.
