It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Dorothy Irene Theriault, 95, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on Nov. 29, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Wes and Matilda Rice.
She was a resident of the Alderwood Guest Home in Baddeck. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines.
Dorothy worked for a number of years at the Alder Point Fish Plant. She also attended trade school in Sydney. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 008, Sydney Mines, and also a member of the Sydney Mines Pensioner’s Club.
She leaves behind to mourn her daughter, Mary (Albert), and sons, Wilfred (Dorothy), Albert (Marie), Danny, Leslie (Rose), Michael (Belinda) and Gary. She is also survived by brothers, Tommy and Albert Rice, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred G. Theriault, a son, Alphonse (Butch) Theriault; sister Nellie Pero; brothers, Louie, Roy and Walter Rice.
Visitation for Dorothy Theriault will be held in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Friday (today), June 6, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Queen Street, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. The burial will be in the Anglican Cemetery, Tobin Road.
A reception will take place in Grandy Hall, following the service.
