Florence Marie Murphy died peacefully on Monday June 2, 2014 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK of cancer. Florence was born to Ernestine and Charles Frederick Buckley on August 12, 1934 in Buffalo Narrows. She was the eldest daughter in a family of 14. She loved her family dearly and often became a mother figure not only to her family, but other people she met throughout her life. Florence was a great homemaker, cook, gardener, and talented seamstress. She was a hard worker and worked a variety of jobs including; a Fish Plant in Prince Albert, Commissionaire, Self-employed as an upholsterer, house mother at the Fraser House Girls Group Home and Andersons Care Home before she retired. Retirement didn’t slow her down. She kept busy by moving to Mission, B.C., Saskatoon, SK and finally back to Prince Albert, SK. She was also active in helping to raise Nicolas and Hanna Deschenes. Florence is survived by her daughters Sonia Murphy-Deschenes (Sylvain Deschenes) and Vida Benjamin (Lloyd Olsen); ex-husband Ron Murphy; as well as numerous sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, and various family members. She will be missed by Nicolas and Hanna Deschenes, her grandchildren whom she helped to raise since birth. She was predeceased by her mother Ernestine and father Charles Frederick Buckley; sons Glen Buckley and Arthur Nicholas and various other family members. A Public Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Grays Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 4th Avenue West with Celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Lunch to follow at Parkland Community Club, 1510 - 9th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
