Florence Milburn, 100 of Residence O'Bon Soins, Shediac, passed away at the residence on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
Born July 4, 1913 in Shediac, she was the daughter of the late George and Susan (Ferguson) McLellan.
'Flo' had a long career working at Blue Cross in Montreal. Well into her later life she was active and well, caring for her own home, tending her flower garden and looking after a sister and brother-in-law, who lived with her. She was relentlessly positive and looked on the bright side of life even after health issues necessitated her moving to O'Bon Soins. She spoke very highly of the staff and quality of care there.
She will be sadly missed by three stepchildren, Michael Milburn (Inga), Mary Jala (late Thomas), both of Sydney, N.S. and Ann Billard (John) of Glace Bay, N.S.; one sister, Shirley Léger (Ron) of Moncton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Flo married late in life and was sadly widowed after a short but happy marriage. Although the mariage was short, she is fondly remembered and still considered to be part of the Milburn clan of Cape Breton.
She was predeceased by husband, Michael 'Chuck' Milburn; four sisters, Mae, Helen, Annie and Georgina; two brothers, Jospeh and Robert.
The funeral service will be held at Frenette Funeral Centre, 396 Main St., Shediac (506-532-3297) on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
