BANNISTER, EMMA - Bannister, Emma Allegra, 97, of Elgin passed away peacefully at the Jordan Life Care Center on June 6, 2014. Born in Gowland Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (nee Knowlan) Kyle. Emma was a member of the First Elgin United Baptist Church, the Elgin Senior Citizens and the Elgin Women’s Institute. She was the last surviving member of 14 children. Emma is survived by her sons: Henry Barchard of Portage Vale, and Everette Barchard (Ruth) of Elgin; her grand children: Paula (Barry) Barchard of Princeton, BC, Sonya Barchard of Moncton and Bentley (Carolyn) Barchard of Moncton; her great-grandchildren: Cody Steeves and Aiden Barchard as well as many extended family and friends. Besides her parents and siblings, Emma was predeceased by her first husband Henry Barchard, her second husband Clinton Bannister, and her daughter Beulah Bernice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac, NB, (506-756-3361) from where visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 6 to 9pm and the funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9 at 3:00 pm. Interment will be held in the New Elgin Cemetery. Emma loved her flowers, so flowers would be appreciated by the family or a donation can be made to the donor’s choice.
