Kelly Ann (MacKenzie) Deleskie

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: June 7th, 2014

It is with unbearable sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful Kelly, on Saturday, June 7, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.
Kelly will always be remembered for her personality and contagious smile that would light up any room she was in. Her willingness to guide and support, not only her family and friends, but anyone that was lucky enough to seek her advice, was a part of her giving nature.
Kelly graduated from Memorial High School in 1995 and worked several retail positions before finding her true calling as a pharmacy technician after receiving her diploma from CBBC in 2007. She was initially employed at Lawtons continuing care services for six years. She then went on to receive a position in the pharmacy at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in May of 2013.
Kelly’s favourite moments included the ones spent with her pride and joy, Jared. You rarely saw one without the other, whether it was an Eagles game, a trip to the mall, or just hanging out with family and friends. Kelly’s dream of wedding bliss finally came true after spending 16 years with the love of her life Christopher. They were married Sept. 7, 2013, at St. Mary’s Church in Frenchvale, before their family and friends.
Kelly was a dedicated hockey mom, who spent many hours in cold rinks. She volunteered most of her time and energy to the Cape Breton Minor Hockey Association. She recently accomplished a personal goal of completing her first 5k run in the 2014 Fiddler’s Run. Even after her passing Kelly continues to give as an organ donor.
Kelly was born May 1, 1977, in North Sydney and is a daughter of Heather MacKenzie. Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband Christopher and son, Jared. Also left to mourn, loving brother and close friend David, sister and best friend Tracy (Dean), nephew Cody; uncle Darrel (Amber) and their two sons, Aunt Darlene (Howie) and their three sons, mother and father-in-law, Donna and Johnnie Deleskie, brother-in-law and close friend Brad (her close friend Kareena), niece Kaelynn and nephew Brandon. Kelly had a special place in her heart for her niece and two nephews and they loved her immensely. She also shared a special bond with her cousins.
Kelly was blessed to have an abundance of friends, especially Shane and Sonya Mroz.
Kelly was predeceased by her grandparents, Simon and Winnie MacKenzie and her uncle Wayne MacKenzie.
Family would like to send special thanks to the medical team at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the two special ladies that brought Kelly’s mom home and all of those that prayed for the family during this difficult time.
Kelly was a wonderful mom, a loving wife, a remarkable daughter, a supportive sister, a thoughtful daughter-in-law, a fun aunt and a true friend. She will be missed by many.
Visitation for Kelly will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will take place 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River, with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Frenchvale.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
