The passing of Mrs. Shirley Payne of Moose Jaw Sk. occurred peacefully at Pioneer Lodge with her family by her side on June 10, 2014 at the age of 86 years.
Shirley was born in Moose Jaw on June 8, 1928. She received her education in Moose Jaw. In 1948 she married Melvin Payne, together they enjoyed 46 years of marriage. Shirley worked for 33 years at the Army & Navy Department Store where she made many lifelong friends. Shirley was a member of the K-Ettes and the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, travelling and sports. She was an avid supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Blue Jay’s. Shirley always looked forward to her Thursday luncheon dates with special friends.
Her greatest enjoyment was her family especially her three grandchildren. She was so looking forward to her granddaughter Kelli’s wedding in July. Shirley will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son Lee (Bernice) and his son Ross of Moose Jaw Sk., daughter Tracie (Bob) Clothier of Rosetown Sk, and their children Jeremy of Fort St. John B.C., and Kelli (Shawn) of Rosetown Sk, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Mel in 1994, parents Walter and Mabel Farley, sisters Fay Farley and Margaret Graham, nephew Bob Graham and niece Sharon Graham.
Funeral Services will be held from the Trinity United Church on Saturday June 14, 2014 at 2:00 P.M., with Linda Owens officiating. Memorial donations in Shirley’s memory may be directed to the Trinity United Church or the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Auxiliary.
Grondin Funeral Services – Biggar (Bob Clothier - Director), with assistance from Moose Jaw Funeral Home and Paragon Funeral Services Regina are entrusted with the arrangements.
