Fern Sharkey
SHARKEY, FERN - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marie Fernande “Fern” Sharkey, loving wife of the late Martin John Sharkey, which occurred on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1927 in Petit Rocher, NB, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Bernadette (Paulin) Frenette. In previous years Fern was involved with the Knights of Columbus, CWL, RCIA and Saint John East Women’s Liberal Association. Her interests included travelling with her husband, family gatherings, reading, knitting and of course bingo. She is survived by her sons Brian (Sheila) of Nauwigewauk, Louis (Frances) of Sussex and Raymond (Pam) of Saint John; daughters Mary (Harold) Bailey of Saint John and Lorraine (Gerard) Leger of Rothesay; sister Terry Blais of Gatineau, PQ; several in-laws including one special sister-in-law Theresa M. Ward; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Paul, brothers Henri, Jean-Louis and Guy and a sister Imelda “Mindy” Maillard.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
