It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alexander MacInnis on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born and raised in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late John and Christena (MacAskill) MacInnis.
Sandy was a retired coal miner, he worked for Devco for 33 years. Sandy could often be found on the “Corner” discussing current events with his buddies.
Sandy is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Edith (Ryan); daughters, Maggie (Weibe) Myers, Fenwick, Ont., Christina Jobes, Vancouver, Theresa (Doug) MacLean, Vancouver, Valerie Clarke, Vancouver, Wanda (Christopher) Saxman, New Mexico, Kelly (Gary) Gardiner, Sydney Mines, Patricia (Trevor) MacInnis, Sydney Mines; sons, Kevin Jobes, Toronto, N.S., Brian (Darlene), Elmsdale; sisters, Catherine MacDougall, Genevieve Davies, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
Besides his parents, Sandy was predeceased by sons, William 'Billy', Alexander 'Sandy' MacInnis, daughter, Patricia Jobes, sisters, Marjorie Towers, Mamie Carmichael, Ena Livingston and brother David Livingston.
Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 20 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish (former St. Pius X), interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
