On June 15, 2014 Hazel Helen Matthews, born in Bloomfield, Newfoundland, passed away at the age of 82 years. Her kind and loving personality along with her thoughtfulness and generosity will be remembered by all those she touched. Her unparalleled example of what a kind, loving mother should be will echo in the hearts of those she loved forever. Hazel will be remembered for her great example by her seven children; Lily (Nathan), Maurice (Jane), Selvy (Pearl), Terry (Linda), Ruby (Blair), Brent (Donna) and Shannon (Spencer). Nan – Who is loved and admired by her 17 grandchildren; Fredrick, Geoffrey, Jennifer, Janice, Jonathan, Naomi, Amanda, Brandon, Sarah, Kyla, Joshua, Tyler, Jasmine, Tegan, Melisa, Muriel, and Kenley. Nanny – Who is leaving behind a legacy for her great grandchildren; Kayle, Teayanna, Autum, Justice, Corbyn, Joseph, Abigail, and Lillith. Hazel also leaves to cherish her memory, her brother-in-law, several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Lyle, son Dale (Age 2), her mother Sara, father John, 7 brothers; Lox, Heber, Ford, Bill, Art, Bob and Sam, and 2 sisters; Norie and Lily. We, the family, would like to thank Dr. Valdeng and all the staff at Norwood Palliative Care for their incredibly compassionate care of the woman who meant so much to us all. A Memorial Service will be held for Hazel on Saturday June 21, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Calmar, AB.
