It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Don Kennedy on June 1, 2014 at his home in Chestermere, Alta. at the age of 55 years. Don was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Cheryl; his children, Jason (Judy), Troy (Sam), Martina (Simon), Todd (Erin), Joshua (Andrea); his grandchildren, Tristan, Caiden, and Amelia; his brothers, Tommy (Linda), Harry (Glenda), Sandy (Carol), Alvin (Mary), Leonard (Arlene), Stephen, Jamie, and Jody (Shari); his sisters, Elaine (Stuart), Jackie (Kenny) and Glenda (Billy); sister-in-law, Mary Kennedy and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Lucy and Garfield; his brothers, Dennis and Bobby and his nieces, Melissa and Crystal.
Don was born in Sydney, N.S. and raised in Louisbourg. He became a commercial welder and his career took him across Canada where he eventually settled in Chestermere, Alberta.
Don had a large family and many friends that he counted as family. He was a fun loving man who was happiest when surrounded by family and friends whether playing cards, having a barbecue or just hanging out. Don was a generous, loving, outgoing man with an easy smile and an easy heart. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
