Joan (O'Handley) Chopeck

It was with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend, Joan Chopeck. She passed away at her home on Union Highway surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret O'Handley, she was also predeceased by her husband, George in 2006.
Joan is survived by her loving daughters, Irene (Michael) Kaloc, Joann (Garrett); grandson, Jonathan (Ashley); special nephew, Daniel (Margie). She also enjoyed going to the dances with her good friend, Glady Hulme.
Joan was the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by sisters, Winnie Murphy, Florence and Camella; brothers, Edward, Cecil and Aloyisus and a very special uncle, Thomas Hall. Joan also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will sadly miss her.
Joan was a hard worker and thought of everyone’s needs but her own. She loved to travel with her family and enjoyed life to the fullest, her afternoon drives with the apple of her eye, grandson Jonathan Kaloc. She looked forward to her evening phone calls from Margie. Joan and her husband George were past members of the Scotchtown Pensioners Club where you'd find them on most Saturday nights with their dear friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, June 27th from 7-9 p.m. There will be a chapel service on Saturday, June 28th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Following the chapel service there will be a luncheon at the family home on 5319 Union Highway, River Ryan. The burial will take place at a later date.
