Henriette 'Hattie' Chiasson

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend, Hattie Chiasson. She passed away June 27, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Petit Etang, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Mathilde (Poirier) LeBlanc.
Hattie was a very special person who touched the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her seven children, Len (Raylene), Eric (Collena), Ronnie (Jacques), Linda (Shelly), Charlie (Noreen), Stevie (Hilda), Priscilla (Robert). Hattie leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Hattie was predeceased by her loving husband John F. Chiasson; two children, Marie Therese in infancy and Stephen; sisters, Marie Julie, Zabeth, Therese; brothers, Joseph, Medrick, Charlie, Paulo, Ned and Henry.
As per Hattie's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held today (Monday), June 30 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Victoria, with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford. Donations in Hattie's memory may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
