ANDERSON, ROBERT EDGAR - The passing of Robert (Bob) Edgar Anderson of Fredericton, NB, husband of Theresa (Justason) Anderson, occurred on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 19, 1925 in St. George, NB, he was the son of the late George and Ethel (Kernighan) Anderson. Robert was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the Royal Canadian Navy on the HMCS Iroquois. He worked for Air Canada until his retirement in 1987. He was the oldest living Past Master of St. George Lodge No.12 Free and Accepted Masons as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 15, St. Stephen Royal Arch Masons Chapter 6, St. Stephen Preceptory No.15, Knights of Pythias, Luxor Shriners and was a Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge District No.5 as well as a member of the St. George Royal Canadian Legion. Bob was a loving, generous and much loved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Uncle and especially cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Always quick with a joke or a story he had many friends and looked forward to time spent with family and friends at “The Camp”. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman and continued to be the “Camp Cook” up until his last trip in April of this year. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Theresa; Robert is survived by his son, Brent Anderson (Kim) of Fredericton, NB and his grandchildren, Neil and Claire Anderson. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Hazel) Justason, Sheldon (Joan) Justason and Marjorie Hatt; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Anderson; sisters, Shirley Smith and Mercedes Mennie; brothers, James and Holmes Anderson.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Wilmot United Church, Carleton Street, Fredericton on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Pallbearers for the service will be Robert, Doug, Terry and Stephen Justason, Peter Hill and Doug Gaudett. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Calvin, Don Goodine, Dennis Carr, Peter Morrison, Tim and Larry Parks. A private family burial will take place at the Pennfield United Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
