It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Sampson, 67, of New Waterford on July 2, 2014.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late James and Veronica (MacNeil) Sampson.
Patrick was employed at the Bras d'Or Lakes Campground, Baddeck for the past 10 years. He truly enjoyed working there and considered his co-workers like family. Patrick loved his cats, Jersey and Princess Sam and always had a keen interest in motorcycles, his last one being a Goldwing. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, namely the grandchildren, whom he adored dearly.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Laurel (Lewis); daughter, Tara (Billy) Lamey, New Waterford; son, Chris (Heather), New Lowell, Ont.; brothers, Angus (Julie), James Jr., both of Massachusetts; Alphonse 'Bookie' (Cathy), Maine, Robert, Antigonish, Jimmy (Jessica), Ontario; sister, Muriel (Dick) Tibbets, Florida; grandchildren, Colin, Nicole and Connor; special nieces, Janet Wilcox and Alisa Syms; as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Patrick was predeceased by two sisters, Joanne MacNeil and Margaret Muise.
Visitation will be held today (Friday, July 4) from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, July 5 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Point Edward, N.S.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of one's choice.
