VAUGHAN, CARL RANDOLPH - The death of Carl Randolph Vaughan, husband of Bonny H. (nee Campbell) Vaughan occurred at the July 5th, 2014 at the age of 80. Born in Fredericton, NB, on January 11th, 1934, he was the son of the late Jack and Marianne "Marion" (Tims) Vaughan. In addition to his wife, Bonny, Carl leaves behind his children, Mary Ellen Vaughan (Paul Breneol) of Fredericton; Scott Vaughan (Carlene Heckman) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jeremy Curnew (Daphne Tseng) of Fredericton, Corey Curnew (Jennifer Curnew) of Saint John and Jared Curnew (Annie-Claude Paquin) of Whistler, BC; grandchildren, Lily and Robyn Breneol and Katherine and Genevieve Curnew, all of Fredericton; brother, Ronald Vaughan of Fredericton; and sister, Sandra Vaughan of Fredericton. Carl was predeceased by parents, Jack and Marianne "Marion" as well as his sister, Donna Matchett. Carl graduated from the Business Administration Program at UNB in 1959 and, after 18 years in the automotive industry, obtained his insurance license in 1978. Carl founded Corporate General Insurance Services in Fredericton and by 1989 his small business had grown to such a size that he decided to purchase and restore the historic property located at 336 Regent Street, for which he was awarded the Fredericton Trust Award. 2 years later, Carl and Moe Arsenault formed the Fredericton Insurance Association with the goal of fostering friendship and networking amongst the local insurance community. In 2000, Carl sold his company but stayed on for the next 2 years as President while coordinating the Broker Acquisition Strategy, finally retiring in 2002. In his retirement, Carl was involved with the Golden Club and in recent years persued his lifelong interest in music. He studied piano, clarinet and saxaphone, ultimately becoming a member of the Fredericton Marching Band. He also ballroom danced and was a member of the Thomists' Dance club for several years. Carl and Bonny enjoyed travelling the world together to areas such as Europe, South America, Southeast Asia, Ireland, Panama Canal, the Baltic and the Mediterranean. He stayed involved in the community, volunteering and supporting community events, and was an active, lifelong member of the Anglican Church in Fredericton.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., on Monday, July7th, 2014 from 2 to 5 pm. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Tuesday, July 8th, 2014 at 11:00 am with Archdeacon Patricia Drummond officiating. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to The Christ church Cathedral Memorial Hall Restoration Fund, Cathedral Sound System or the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation.
