It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved son, husband, brother, uncle and loyal friend, Gordon Edward Eldridge of New Waterford and Sydney at the QEII on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of Roderick and the late Leona (Cashin) Eldridge
Gordon had worked in the mines for many years. He loved riding his motorcycle, travelling, ATVing, playing piano, but most of all he looked forward to his Friday nights playing cards with his dad (Roddie). Gordon was the kindest man I knew he would help out anyone even if he never met them before.
He is survived by the love of his life, Anne Pauline MacDonnell of Sydney; brothers, Robert (Paula), Greggory, Ronald, Donald (Linda); sisters, Maureen (Gregg), Nancy, Patricia (Donald); sisters-in-law, Melinda, also many nieces and nephews.
Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his brother Joe and sister, Rose, as well as grandparents Matilda and Joe Cashin & Jack and Mary Eldridge.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held on July 15th at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
Donations in Gordon’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
