WRY, ALBERT LORNE - 1923-2014 - Sackville, N.B.- It is with sadness, but peace of heart, that the family of Albert L. Wry, announce his passing on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his cottage in Coldspring Head, N.S. Albert was 91 years of age. Born on June 15, 1923 in Sackville, N.B., Albert was the son of the late Albert Lorne and Marjorie “Madge” (Chapman) Wry. Albert attended Central School and Mount Allison Academy in Sackville, joining the R.C.A.F in 1943 and serving overseas flying with 408 and 433 Squadrons in Bomber Command. Returning home in 1945, he attended Mount Allison University where he earned his BFA Degree. Albert joined the staff of Atlantic Wholesalers head office, remaining with the company until his retirement. Albert served two terms on the Sackville Town Council and was a member of the Sackville Kinsmen Club, where as Bulletin Editor, he won the Kinsmen National Bulletin Trophy for Canada. Al retired from Kinsmen as a life member and later became the founding President of the K-40 club. After retirement, Kay took up watercolor painting and became an excellent artist and had a demand for her work. Albert turned to shore bird carving, entering his work in the local Atlantic Waterfowl Carving Competition and was rewarded with several ribbons for his entries. Albert and Kathryn began building their cottage at Coldspring Head near Northport, N.S. in 1968. After their retirement, the cottage became their home six months of the year. Gardening and flowers became part of cottage life, as did golfing. Joining the Northumberland Golf Club in the 1960’s, Kay served a year as President of the Ladies Division and Albert served four years as a Director on the club executive. They spent many winters enjoying golf and their many friends in Florida.
