It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Glenda Marguerite (Hann) Dixon, of Westmount, formerly, East Bay, on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Lewisporte, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Roland and Matilda (Landon) Hann.
Mom loved playing games with her grandchildren, playing her harmonica and dancing a jig. She also loved her times at the casino and was never without her Halls or gum.
Glenda was predeceased by her husband, Robert Dixon; brothers, Harry, Cliff, Otto, Les, John and James; and her sisters, Maude, Thelma, Alma and Blanche. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Lilia MacInnis and son-in-law, Brian Dowling.
Glenda is survived by her sister, Mary; six sons, Harry (Janet), Barry (Debbie), both of Ontario, Tom (Melda), P.E.I., Terry (Valerie), John (Marlene) and Kevin (Jean), all of Sydney; six daughters, Elaine (Gary) Fougere, Westmount, Betty Dowling (James Murphy), East Bay, Tara (Barry Shelley), Sydney River, Corliss (Kevin) MacPhee, Ben Eoin, Linda (Allister) Wadden, Annapolis Valley and Sharon (Roddie) MacNeil, Halifax; 31 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; special family friend, Jan MacArthur; and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dr. Paul Murphy for his continuing care.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday 2 p.m., with Rev. Douglas Murphy officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
