FLYNN (HUNT), Edith Gladys – 85, Truro, passed away on July 17, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by her family. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Caroline (Bennett) Hunt. Edith moved to Halifax as an infant. She attended St. Agnes Catholic School in Halifax. She met the love of her life, Harold, at the National Sea Sealed Fish Plant, they married in 1948 and she became a devoted wife and mother of nine children. Mom’s life revolved around her family and she was an extraordinary homemaker and the true matriarch of her family. She will be sadly missed by her children David (Barb), Nine Mile River, Caroline (Gordon) Hubley, Nine Mile River; Stephen Flynn, Bible Hill; Patrick (Marlene) Flynn, Stewiacke; Harold Jr. (Michelle) Flynn, Upper Sackville; Gary (Sonia) Flynn, Bridgewater; Donna Flynn (Leeman), Truro, Debi (Troy) Rushton, Masstown; daughter-in-law Karen, Truro; faithful canine companion Susie; brothers Bernard “Buck” (Lillian), Coldstream; Walter, Halifax; Peter (Nancy) Lantz; sisters Katherine Vincent, Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews; 31 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, son Howard James, an infant child, an infant grandson and an infant great granddaughter, brothers Kenneth, David, Jimmy and Fred, sister Elizabeth Chisholm. Visitation will be 2-6pm Sunday in Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Cremation to follow. A funeral service will be held 1pm Monday July 21, 2014 in St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Shubenacadie, Father Tom Kurudeepan O.M.I. officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the VON in memory of Edith. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care shown to Edith over the past 3 years, by her daughter Donna, son in-law Leeman and granddaughters Sara and Jodi.
