Norman William Mitchell, aged 60, of Fort Qu’Appelle, SK, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 16th, 2014, at the Fort Qu’Appelle All Nations Healing Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Norm is predeceased by his father, William Rhodes Mitchell. He is survived by his wife Bonny Jean; son Sean William (Leah); daughter Katherine Jean Barkley (Cory); grandchildren Hayley, Zachary, Wyatt and Ty; mother Doreine Mitchell Valastin (Lad); brother, Richard Mitchell (Cheryl); mother-in-law Jean Schnitzler (Bill) and other loving relatives and friends. Norm, born in Willow Bunch, SK on July 2nd, 1954, grew up on the family farm outside of Moose Jaw, SK. He graduated from Vanier Collegiate in 1971, and joined RCMP in 1974. He was stationed at Nipawin, Inuvik, Spence Bay, Fort Qu’Appelle, Fond du Lac, and Kindersley. He returned to Fort Qu’Appelle where he retired in 1999. He also volunteered for a six month tour as a peacekeeper in Bosnia in 1993. He spent retirement enjoying the things he loved in life, including farming, fishing, hunting, raising reindeer, spending time with family and friends. Most of all, Norm enjoyed traveling to exotic places with his beloved wife of 39 years, Bonny. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. NW, Moose Jaw, on Monday July 21, 2014 at 2:30PM. Father Rick Krofchek will be the Presiding Celebrant, along with Deacon William Schnitzler. A time of prayer and visitation will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E. on Sunday July 20, 2014 at 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please direct any memorial donations to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 7T1. In living memory of Norm, a memorial planting will be made by W.J.
