MARJORIE ARETTA PINEO PASSES AWAY AT AGE 100
Marjorie Aretta Pineo - of Black Rock, Kings County, and New Minas, Kings County, left us peacefully for her heavenly home on Friday, August 1, 2014 in Shannex-Orchard Court, Kentville. Living her life through God's grace, he granted her 100 beautiful years. Born at Ross Corner, NS on February 8, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Thorpe) Graves of Ross Corner and Kingston, NS. She was a pillar of strength and knowledge to all of us. She had been a very active member of Black Rock Jolly Workers and enjoyed the fellowship with the ladies she loved so dearly. Our mother had a circle of true Christian friends that she has had for roughly eighty years, always in touch for special occasions by phone, letter or visit. Marjorie enjoyed her years at Scotian Gold, Coldbrook in the apple industry. She was a member of the Billtown Baptist Church and later transferred to the Black Rock Baptist Church. Marjorie was an active member of the church and in community affairs. She was a church clerk for 42 years and for many years taught Sunday school. She was a life member of the United Baptist Missionary Union of the Atlantic Provinces. In later years, she enjoyed the fellowship at New Minas Baptist Church where she made many new friends, joining in the Bible studies, Missionary and quilting groups and her F.I.R. Group (Friends in Retirement). She was also a member of the Jean Mosher W.M.S. of the United Baptist Church. A very active lady in all aspects of life, she was a seamstress, knitter and enjoyed quilting, of which she made many. She also enjoyed cooking and when she and Ralph lived on the farm at Lovelace Corner their door was always open and an extra chair at their table. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and friend. She leaves to mourn her passing, three daughters, Pauline Gates, Berwick; Geraldine (Martin) Bolland, New Minas; Mary-Lou (Richard) Misner, New Minas; a son, Kenneth (Barbara) Pineo, Berwick; seven grandchildren, Eric (Laurie) Bolland; Natalie (Kevin Leslie), Chantal Pineo Atwood; Kendra (Jeffrey) Sarsfield, Mark (Sonya) Misner, Arthur (Colleen) Gates, Marilyn (Kevin) Lightfoot; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Hazel Foster and Dorothy Foote; a brother-in-law, Blake Winott. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Pineo; a grandson, Kevyn Bolland; two brothers, Luther (Lillian) Graves and Bedford (Ada) Graves; three sisters, Frances (John) Longley, Pansy (Gerald) Rogers and Clara Winott; a son-in-law, Malcolm Gates; two brothers-in-law, Wilfred Foster and Jerry Foote. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a celebration of her life, followed by a reception, was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, Reverend Sterling Gosman officiating. Burial took place in the East Black Rock Cemetery. Donations in memory can be made to the Black Rock Baptist Church, the East Black Rock Cemetery, the New Minas Baptist Church or the Shannex-Orchard Court Activity Fund. Special thanks to the Orchard Court staff for all their care, compassion and love over the past four years. She recognized you to the very end. Many thanks to Dr. Rob Gunn for thirty plus years of caring for our mother. Rob was our mother's "Farmer Boy". Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
