FODE
It is with heavy hearts the family of Ken Fode announce his passing at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on August 6, 2014. Ken is survived by his companion of 20 years, Eleanor Clark, one son Clayton (Denise) Fode, their sons, Reece and Vance, Ellie’s family: Curt (Brenda), Joanne (Rod), Wendy (Tanis) and their families; as well as grandchildren Danielle Grieve, Angela, Amanda, Edward, Devon, Clayton and Joshua Fode; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Ida Fode, brothers, Clifford and Wallace, daughter Suprena Fode and step-son, Jeff Clark. Kenneth Clayton Fode was born in Medicine Hat on February 26, 1936 where he took his schooling. Ken left Medicine Hat in 1953, on the train, to join the Canadian Army. It was during his Army training he met his first wife, Wanda whom he married in January of 1957. In September of 1955 Ken graduated from the Royal Canadian Air Force Technical Training School and entered into a career as Ground Crew Technician with the RCAF for the next 20 years. Ken was posted in Belgium for 5 years and following that was transferred to the Air Force Base in Moose Jaw where he stayed until his discharge in 1975. After the Air Force Ken pursued a career in meat cutting and later on was a Front End Mechanic for Great West Tire until 1996 when he entered into retirement. Ken and Elly enjoyed their friends and fun at the Royal Canadian Legion and Moose Jaw Eagles Club, dancing, story telling and their daily attempts at the meat draw. Ken was a free-spirited guy who loved to have a good time, share a story as well as collect rare “oddities”. Ken’s love for hunting gained him many friends and inspired him to become involved in the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation becoming a Fire Arms Safety and Hunter Education instructor. Ken‘s love for hunting and wildlife left a legacy to his son and grandsons who have learned to appreciate and enjoy the same. A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Monday August 11, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Dan MacAulay. Donations can be made in memory of Ken to the Sask. Wildlife Federation, 9 Lancaster Road, Moose Jaw, S6J 1M8.
