John passed away in St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver following a brief illness. Although he battled complications of diabetes for several years, his determined spirit was an inspiration to many.
Predeceased by his father, Warren. He is survived by his mother Donnie, brother Ken (Louise), niece Jessica, nephews Peter and Richard, Aunt Jo Bembridge and Uncle Ian (Marge) McAra.
A gathering of friends in remembrance of John will be held Saturday, August 23 at 2:00 pm at the Gibsons Community Centre, 700 Park Road, Gibsons.
In the past five years, John found joy working with young adults with developmental disabilities; therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sunshine Coast Special Olympics.
