Dora was born in Regina and passed away in the Moose Jaw Union Hospital with family members at her side. Dora was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Marion, and her brother Arthur. She is survived by her sisters Betty Gropp, Angeline Dixon (Gerry), Beatrice Gropp, Julie Van Dusen (Charles) and her brother John (Jan) as well as several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. After obtaining her Teaching Certificate, Dora spent over 20 years teaching in the Public School System in Regina. With an initial focus on Special Education, Dora taught at several Regina schools including Herchmer, Wascana and Imperial. Dora had a lifelong passion for all animals but particularly small dogs. You would be hard pressed to find Dora without one or more of her canine companions at her side. She was very involved for many years with the Wascana German Shepherd Dog and Obedience Club where she successfully showed her dogs. During her retirement Dora also provided caring support to several family members when they were ill or receiving medical treatment. In addition, she was very generous with third world children, especially girls. Over the years she sponsored many children and made significant contributions to improving their health and overall lives. Dora also discovered the joys of small town living in Assiniboia for several years prior to moving to Moose Jaw. Dora spent many interesting and fun hours at the Maguire Centre in Providence Place Moose Jaw and her family would like to thank the staff and volunteers there for making it such a wonderful place to be. Dora’s great sense of humor and her caring heart are sadly missed by her family and friends.
