HARRIS, WARREN – It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Warren Lee Harris on Friday, August 15, 2014 after a brief illness. Born on June 24, 1943, he immigrated from Wales in 1947 with his family. He was the son of the late Frank and Lena (Evans) Harris and loving husband of 44 years to the late Claire (Osborne) Harris. After graduating from St. Thomas University, Warren began a 32 year teaching career in Saint John and influenced the lives of many students. Warren had a special bond with nature which began in his childhood as he explored the woods around his home in Mispec. This love of nature and wildlife continued throughout his life and brought him great joy. He was an avid salmon fisherman who especially enjoyed fishing on the Miramichi River, instilling this passion on many others throughout his life. He was a gifted man with many talents and interests. Warren was completely devoted to his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, and in return the children adored their Grandad. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Gail MacLean Harris; son David (Kathy); daughters Shelley Harris-Weir (Chris Weir), Sherry Harris-Murray (Ian Murray) all of Saint John, NB; step-son Adam (Racquel) MacLean of Toronto, ON; brother Brian (Jean) Harris of Saint John, NB; sisters Caroline (Tony) Smith of Upperton, NB, Noeline (Fraser) Smith of Long Reach, NB; beloved grandchildren William, Lauren, Jackson, Allie, Duncan, Emma, Parker; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his first wife, Warren was predeceased by his nephew Evan Fraser Smith, brothers Ross Reynolds and Paul Reynolds.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Sunday, August 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday August 18, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations in Warren’s memory may be made the Evan Fraser Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, Miramichi Salmon Association, Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
