Phyllis Furlong
It is with sadness that we must announce the death of Phyllis Furlong, age 91, of Charlottetown, formerly of Lower Shinimicas, N.S., which occurred at Beach Grove Nursing Home, Charlottetown, on Saturday, August 16, 2014.
Born in Linden, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Russell and Mabel (Mitchell) Smith. A lifelong resident of Shinimicas, she was an active member of the UCW and the Sunrise Citizens Group in Shinimicas.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters Eileen (Donald) Josey, Charlottetown, Marie (Christian) Obermaier, Halifax; five grandchildren: Mark (Nicole), Karen (Dale), Katherine (Randy), Derek (Rose), and Pamela (Mike); and seven great-grandchildren: Jared, Jacqueline, Alexa, Matthew, Gabe, Solen and Beau; brother Chandler (Paulette) Smith, Linden.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles; sisters Viva Smith, Hattie Tomlinson and Florence Carter; brother Albert.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, N.S. (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, from noon until 2 p.m., followed immediately with the funeral service at 2 p.m., Ruth Gamble, DLM officiating. Burial will take place in the Renwick Cemetery, Linden, N.S., following the funeral.
