July 9, 1945 to Aug. 17. 2014. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nils Rodeblad at the Dr. L.A. Miller Palliative Care Center on August 17, 2014 after a difficult but courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his father-in-law Fred Bannister 2014 (Kay Smith). Left with cherished memories are his wife Gwen Bannister; mother Henny Rodebald (late Alex Rodebald), Sweden; children residing in Sweden; Stefan Tegenfalk (Fia), Ingela (Krister Jansson), Christina (Kent Janze), Annika (Håken Redig), Åsa (Johan Edin-Lowe); step-children Tracy Spurrell (Mike Paddon), Dieppe, NB, Danny Spurrell, Seattle, Washington; sisters Ingalill Gummesson, Brigitta (Göran Nordlander) Sweden, Gisela (Kola Sofeso) England, brother Lars Rodeblad (Maria Lindberg) Sweden; sisters and brothers-in law Christine (Dick Sheppard), Joyce Bannister, Colin Bannister (Kim), Andrew Bannister (Susan Foster) Australia, Glenn Bannister (Suzanna) Germany, Jacqueline Bannister (Cliff Lefrense) Ottawa; fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many friends, in particular Brian, Bert, George, Gordon and Rick who were always there to support him along this journey. As per Nils' wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Carnell's Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday August 28, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Nils' life will be held in St. John's, Newfoundland and Stockholm, Sweden. Details will be published at a later date. As all his family and friends can attest, Nils dearly loved his cats. Baxter, Louie and Fritz were a great comfort to him during his illness. It was his wish that anyone desiring to do something in his memory make a contribution to the SPCA.
